Meet Simoleon — the fake office money that accidentally became legend.
Friendly. Funny. Slightly unhinged. Supposedly born in a Silicon Valley office break room and somehow 13 years early.

The totally real history of Simoleon

We broke the story into bite-size chapters so the lore is easy to read, fun to follow, and way less wall-of-text.
Chapter 1
The office problem 😴
It was 1995. A tiny software company in Silicon Valley had a crisis: everyone was bored, productivity was falling, and HR needed something to keep people awake.
Chapter 2
The fake money idea 🪙
So someone made up an internal currency called Simoleons. It was supposed to be a joke. Just silly little play money with a tech-company vibe.
Chapter 3
It got out of hand 🍪
Within weeks, employees were trading Simoleons for snacks, parking spots, and even PTO days. Somehow, the joke started working better than management.
Chapter 4
The Honda Civic incident 🚗
Then the rumors got ridiculous. One legend says somebody bought a used Honda Civic for 50,000 Simoleons. At that point, this was no longer an HR activity.
Chapter 5
The spreadsheet ledger 💻
There was no blockchain, no mining, no whitepaper. Just a shared Excel file on the network being edited by random people all day. A cursed proto-ledger was born.
Chapter 6
The leak outside the company 👀
Before executives could stop it, Simoleons escaped the office. Workers at nearby tech companies started hearing about the currency that was never supposed to matter.
Chapter 7
13 years too early 🤯
What started as office nonsense accidentally became the first non-government digital currency in spirit, years before Bitcoin and long before Dogecoin made internet money funny.
Chapter 8
Then it vanished 💨
The company got acquired, the servers were wiped, the spreadsheet disappeared, and the official story became: this definitely never happened. But people still remember.
Why people like it
Because it sounds like somebody really did invent a joke currency in an office and accidentally created a meme empire before the internet was ready.
The vibe
Crayon economics. Break-room capitalism. Spreadsheet finance. Just enough fake history to feel dangerous and just enough nonsense to be perfect.
